Results are presented of further analysis of data on the production of prompt muons obtained in an experiment with absorption of 70-GeV protons in iron. No dependence of the ..mu../..pi.. ratio on the transverse momentum was observed at a fixed longitudinal muon momentum p/sub L/> or approx. =7 GeV/c. At x/sub F/approx. =0 (theta*approx. =90/sup 0/) and p/sub T/approx. =1 GeV/c the ratio ..mu../sup pr//2..pi../sup +/ = (7.0 +- 1.1) x 10/sup -5/, which is consistent with the premise that ..mu../..pi.. is constant in the region 1< or approx. =p/sub T/< or approx. =3 GeV/c. The total yield of prompt muons in the forward hemisphere in the c.m.s. of the nucleons is (3.6 +- 0.5) x 10/sup -4/ proton.
