Spontaneous breaking of CP invariance and. mu. e universality

It is shown that in the framework of an SU(2)xU(1) gauge model of weak and electromagnetic interactions, the existence of a complex doublet and triplet of scalar fields leads to the spontaneous breaking of CP invariance. The electric dipole moment of the leptons, the neutron, and the ..lambda.. hyperon, and the magnitude of the T-odd transverse polarization of muons in the reaction ..nu../sub ..mu../+N ..-->.. ..mu../sup -/+X are calculated in a model in which the ..mu..e universality is broken in a natural fashion.
