Fractions of Sn fission products formed independently and by decay of In isotopes were determined for A = 121, 123, 125, 127, 128 from thermal neutron induced fission of /sup 235/U (U235T), and for A = 121, 123, 127, 128 from 14-MeV neutron induced fission of /sup 235/U (U235H). The procedure involved on-line separation of In and Sn using the SISAK continuous extraction method during irradiation, and ..beta.. activity measurements of purified Sn after decay of In precursors. Measured fractions of Sn formed combined with existing cumulative yields of Sn and mass number (chain) yields allowed calculation of independent and/or cumulative yields for the nuclides studied. The yield data were used to determine nuclear charge dispersion parameters, sigma/sub z/ and ..delta..Z, as well as mass dispersion parameters, sigma/sub A'/ and ..delta..A', for U235T. The ..delta..Z function shows structure in the vicinity of Z = 50 proton shell similar to that indicated by other experimental data; the structure is inconsistent with some theoretical calculations. For near symmetric fission ..delta..Z function appears converged to zero. The ..delta..A' function also shows structure near the Z = 50 shell. The width of charge dispersion, sigma/sub z/, is narrow near Z = 50 and increases near symmetry. The width of mass dispersion, sigma/sub z/, is narrow near Z = 50 and increases near symmetry. The width of mass dispersion, sigma/sub A'/, in the region studied is similar to an average value for all element yields. In addition to determination of fission yields, extraction of Ag, Cd, In, Sn, Sb, and U into ketone solvents was studied using single-step batch and SISAK continuous extraction methods. Also equations were derived for activity decay and growth during the continuous irradiation-separation procedure.
