Charmed hadron production in e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation as a test of the quark statistical relation for the yields of mesons and baryons

It is proposed that the production of charmed particles in quark jets of e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation be used to check the quark statistical rule for the relation between the yields of mesons (M) and baryons (B) in the hadronization of a quark q..-->..(1/3)B+(2/3)M. The value of the increase of the baryon-production cross section near the charm-production threshold is discussed.
