The transport of corrosion inhibitors in a wet-gas pipeline has been modeled using a transient multiphase fluid flow simulator. The model incorporates the fluid properties, topography of the pipeline, phase behavior of the fluid, and heat transfer in the line. The model describes the dilution of inhibitor concentration along the length of the line due to condensation and estimates the inhibitor transport to the top of the line under dynamic flow conditions. This modeling is used in the life prediction for new pipeline design to help establish the viability of corrosion inhibition as a corrosion control methodology.
