Scientific visualization is the processing of scientific data into an image or a series of images that allows scientists to observe and interact with their data, possibly gaining new insight. ORNL has a Scientific Visualization Center, where research is done on this new area of research graphics. They established a visualization interest group, called ViSciTek.
