Patent ·
OSTI ID:5749107
This patent describes a composition for oxidizing hydrogen sulfide to form elemental sulfur in the composition and for effecting settling of the elemental sulfur from the composition. It comprises an aqueous solution containing chelated water soluble polyvalent metal ions and at least one water soluble nonionic surfactant having an HLB of from 8 to 10. This patent also describes a composition for oxidizing hydrogen sulfide to form elemental sulfur in the composition and for effecting settling of the elemental sulfur from the composition, the composition comprising an aqueous solution containing chelated water soluble polyvalent metal ions and at least one water soluble ethoxylated alkyl phenol surfactant having an HLB of from about 8 to about 10, in which the HLB is defined as E/5 where E is ethylene oxide weight percent.
