Environmental compliance by Federal agencies. Hearing before the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, House of Representatives, One Hundredth Congress, First Session, April 28, 1987
The subcommittee met to examine whether the enforcement and compliance system set forth in our environmental laws is being applied equally and with the forcefulness against Federal agencies that the law requires. Chairman Dingell noted that inspection by EPA and the several states, reports of GAO, and Congressional hearings all document the records of the Departments of Energy and Defense in failing to obey hazardous waste laws. Three examples of such documentation are included in material submitted for the record. Also submitted for the record, and making up almost 60% of this hearing record, are various Subcommittee exhibits, related material, and correspondence. In all eight Federal officials and three State government officials testified.
