The effectiveness of chelating agents upon foam separation of heavy metals from waters

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5744408
Three types of chelating agents, EDTA, NDDTC, and CA with different concentration ratios with respect to the metal ions were used to separate the heavy metals from water by foaming. Under certain conditions it was possible to obtain a distribution ratio for cadmium ions up to three orders of magnitude between the foamed complex and the raffinate. These studies were performed with ion concentrations between 1-50 PPM and chelate to ion ratios of 10 to 2500 by weight.
