Interaction of the perlitic glazes with the ceramic base

Journal Article · · Glass Ceram. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5741727
The authors investigate the dissolution and diffusion of the various oxide components of various ceramics and their glazes under firing conditions across the interface between them and the structure of the intermediate bonding layer resulting from the diffusion. Compositions are given for the ceramics and the glazing materials. The mass distribution of the ionic components of the systems are studied. The distribution and content of boron and its effect on the thermal shock resistance of the ceramic are given significant attention. Comparative properties and compositions are tabulated.
