Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory safeguards and security quarterly progress report to the US Department of Energy

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) carries out safeguards and security activities for the Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Safeguards and Security (OSS), as well as other organizations, both within and outside the DOE. The nature and scope of the activities carried out for the OSS at LLNL require a broad base of technical expertise. To assure projects are staffed and executed effectively, projects are conducted by the organization at LLNL best able to supply the needed technical expertise. These projects are developed and managed by senior program managers. Institutional oversight and coordination is provided through the LLNL Deputy Director's office. At present, the Laboratory is supporting OSS in three areas: Safeguards Technology, Safeguard System Studies, and Computer Security. The remainder of this report describes the activities in each of these three areas. The information provided includes an introduction which briefly describes the activity, funding information, and the activity task descriptions and summary of accomplishments.
