Superconductor sensors
This patent describes an assembly for detecting changes in the ambient magnetic field conditions and the ambient temperature conditions surrounding a current- carrying superconductor, which conditions are associated with the operation of the current-carrying superconductor, the current-carrying superconductor being characterized by a critical temperature of given value and a critical magnetic field of a given value. It includes a sensor conductor positioned in proximate, substantially parallel relationship with the current-carrying superconductor along the length of the superconductor over which changes in the ambient magnetic field conditions and temperature conditions are to be detected; the sensor conductor comprising a core of superconductive material and an outer layer of malleable material surrounding the core, and having a critical temperature and a critical magnetic field not greater than the given values of the critical temperature and the critical magnetic field of the current-carrying superconductor.
