Tensor analyzing powers in /sup 4/He(d,d)/sup 4/He elastic scattering between 17 and 45 MeV

Angular distribution measurements were made of the differential cross section dsigma/d..cap omega.. and the tensor analyzing powers A/sub y/y and A/sub x/x in d-..cap alpha.. elastic scattering between deuteron beam energies of 17 and 45 MeV. The analyzing powers are large over this energy range and suitable for use as a secondary polarization standard. The use of rapid spin flip on the polarized ion source appreciably reduced experimental errors.
