Measurement of the absolute branching fraction for [ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +]

Using 1.79 fb[sup [minus]1] of data recorded by the CLEO II detector we have measured the absolute branching fraction for [ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +]. The angular correlation between the [pi][sup +] emitted in the decay [ital D][sup *+][r arrow][ital D][sup 0][pi][sup +], and the jet direction in [ital e][sup +][ital e[minus]][r arrow][ital c[bar c]] events, is used to determine the total number of inclusive [ital D][sup 0] mesons produced from this source. The subsequent reconstruction of the decay chain [ital D][sup *+][r arrow][ital D][sup 0][pi][sup +],[ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +] allows a measurement of the absolute [ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +] branching fraction. Correcting for decay radiation in the final state, we find [ital scrB]([ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +])=[3.95[plus minus]0.08(stat)[plus minus]0.17(syst)]%.
