This patent describes a well tool for generating and applying an upward axial force to an object at a subsurface location in a well flow conductor. It comprises body means, (i) an upper body member having a longitudinal bore extending therethrough and having means at its upper end for attachment to a handling string; (ii) pressure responsive means near the upper end of the upper body member for anchoring the same in the well flow conductor; (iii) piston means on the upper body member a spaced distance below the anchoring means; (iv) a lower body member having a longitudinal bore extending therethrough, and upper portion of the bore being enlarged and in which the piston means of the upper body member is reciprocable, the piston means providing in the cylinder means a power chamber and an exhaust chamber, including seal means and between the upper body member and the lower body member at both the upper and lower ends of the cylinder means.
