This text explores all aspects of interventional US including instrumentation, techniques, indications for specific site biopsy, and specialized techniques such as biliary drainage. One point emphasized is that the additional use of US during some of these procedures cuts down significantly the amount of radiation administered to the patient and staff. The latest wave in interventional US includes aggressive treatment such as percutaneous ethanol injection therapy of small hepatocellular carcinomas, percutaneous cholecystostomy, and gastrostomy.
