Conference · · Proc. Rocky Mt. Coal Min. Inst.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5721171

After a discussion of the history of Federal regulation of coal and the increase in the number of regulatory agencies, the two major factors that contribute to the coal industry's current problems are discussed, its image and politics. The author recommends that efforts of the coal industry should be to educate the public on the general economic benefits of increased coal utilization and the costs associated with a cleaner environment and to organize the industry in order to influence Congress through political lobbying.
