Bati Raman heavy-oil (12[degree] API [0.986 g/cm[sup 3]]) field, with 1.85 [times] 10[sup 9] STB (294 [times] 10[sup 6] stock-tank m[sup 3]) original oil in place (OOIP) and poor primary recovery (1.5% OOIP), was a good candidate for EOR applications. Detailed studies resulted in application of an immiscible CO[sub 2] injection in a 33-well pilot area. An initially planned huff n' puff became a successful continuous CO[sub 2] flood and encouraged the oil company in their decision to widen the project to the central part of the field. Incremental oil production of 5.742 [times] 10[sup 6] STB [913 [times] 10[sup 3] stock-tank m[sup 3]] resulted from 28-MMscf [7.9 [times] 10[sup 5] std m[sup 3]] CO[sub 2] injection. Oil production increased from 900 STB/D [143.1 stock-tank m[sup 3]/d] primary production to 10,500 STB/D [1,669 stock-tank m[sup 3]/d] in the treated area.
