The characteristics of flow-boiling heat transfer in a 2-mm-wide annulus were studied by using water and a viscous liquid. Over a certain range of heat flux, the flow-boiling heat transfer coefficient in the annulus was, on the average, 80% higher, and the overall heat transfer coefficient some 60% higher than in an empty tube. The calculated and experimental overall heat transfer coefficient data for water were in close agreement.
