This article attempts to help the general attorney successfully represent the interests of an agricultural landowner in an oil and gas leasing transaction. Areas of discussion include the economic incidents of the lease, the possibilities inherent in landowner participation in the drilling venture, lessee-oriented provisions that should be avoided, and implied and expressed development easements to prevent undue interference of agricultural activities. 88 references.
