This is the 1985 Annual Report of the International Energy Agency Solar Heating and Cooling (SHC) Programme. The format of the report has been changed substantially from that of previous years. In addition, the report has been given a special theme: ''Working Toward Greater Cost-Effectiveness.'' Section 2 of this report, the special theme chapter, discusses the contributions of the cooperative activities to achieving more cost-effective solar heating and cooling systems. A report on the progress and accomplishments during 1985 of the current tasks is found in Section 3. Section 4, Appendix, contains a description of each of the tasks as background information for those unfamiliar with all or parts of the programme. Finally, the Appendix also contains information on IEA SHC reports, meetings, Executive Committee Members and task technical participants.
