This paper reports on significant economic savings which result from revamp strategies that start with identification of objectives and constraints, followed by and evaluation of alternatives and an implementation of selected tasks. Several years after the startup of a baseload LNG plant, improving existing production trains or adding new trains to increase production capacity are usually under consideration. The main objective is to maximize net LNG delivered to tankers and increase plant reliability and safety. Constraints are usually manifested as equipment bottlenecks, storage capacity limitations or regulatory requirements. A well-planned performance test, along with plant simulations, is needed to locate hidden bottleneck.
