Unconstrained BRST superfield theories. [BRST (Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin)]
The use of a superspace to geometrically formulate BRST (Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin) and anti-BRST symmetries in ordinary and supersymmetric field theories is examined. It is shown that the conditions that curvature components should be trivial in the BRST superspace directions always result in differential equations whose solutions lead to prepotentials. Explicit solutions to many of these cases are given and it is shown that the prepotentials play a crucial role in writing all actions in a manifestly invariant and geometrical form. Geometric formulation of BRST and anti-BRST symmetries by the use of a superspace can be extended to formulate the stochastic quantization of gauge theories. With this method, the stochastic time evolution equations for Yang-Mills and two dimensional gravity can be obtained. The results suggest that the method is applicable to other gauge theories as well.
