An apparatus is described for providing auxiliary power and braking to a vehicle including an electric monitoring system for the automatic control of the auxiliary power and braking and for the recovery of kinetic energy. The apparatus consists of: (a) a vehicle having at least one tire and a drive shaft; (b) an engine connected to the vehicle for powering the vehicle and including an electrohydraulic motor, an air cylinder with operatively connected elements and including an output shaft and having a rotary vane connected to the output shaft, the electrohydraulic motor and the air cylinder being operatively connected to the drive shaft of the vehicle; (c) at least one hydraulic pump, at least one compressor and at least one alternator operatively connected to the tire and to the drive shaft of the vehicle and including means for the recovery of kinetic energy; (d) means for braking the vehicle including means for loading the air cylinder, the rotary vane, the hydraulic pump, the compressor and the alternator and therefore the drive shaft of the vehicle; (e) a closed circuit circulating system for compressed air and hydraulic fluid and including means for storing the air and the hydraulic fluid; (f) means for recovering kinetic energy of the vehicle including means for the automatic electric switching of electronic components for regulating and controlling the auxiliary power and the kinetic energy recovery equipment.
