(e,2e) on solids - a progress report

The use of (e,2e) spectroscopy to probe the electronic structure of solids is hampered by a number of problems. These include poor signal to noise ratio, sample preparation, multiple scattering and sample heating. A description is given of means which have been used to overcome some of these problems. Spectrometers and other experimental apparatus are described and suggestions are made for future experiments.
