GASPLANT is a flowsheeting package designed specifically for the simulation of gas treating using any of the amines MEA, DEA, DGA, DIPA, MDEA; the added capability of simulating binary mixtures of these amines is a feature unique to GASPLANT-PLUS. GASPLANT simulates treating with solutions of a single amine; GASPLANT-PLUS has all the features of GASPLANT plus the capability of simulating mixtures of amines. PC versions of these flowsheet simulators are also available and, in all versions, flowsheet structure is unrestricted. The most important feature of these packages is their use of a nonequilibrium or rate model for columns. This rate model, AMCOLR, recognizes and takes proper account of the key role played by chemical reaction rates coupled to tray and packing hydraulics. AMCOLR finds the actual rates of mass and heat transfer between the phases in contact and all its calculations use actual trays and actual depths of real packing; ideal trays, equilibrium stages or theoretical plates are NOT used.
