The relative rate constants for the gas-phase reactions of thermal chlorine atoms have been measured with H/sub 2/S, C/sub 2/H/sub 6/, and CH/sub 2/ = CHBr over the temperature range from 232 to 359 K by using radioactive /sup 38/Cl atoms. These data at a pressure of 4000 Torr of CClF/sub 3/ are consistent with a temperature-dependent rate constant of (10.5 +/- 0.4) x 10/sup -11/ cm/sup 3/ molecule/sup -1/ s/sup -1/, based on the consensus literature values for the reaction of Cl with C/sub 2/H/sub 6/. 15 references, 1 figure, 2 tables.
