An explosive emulsion composition is described which contains a nitropropane. The emulsion is of the water-in- oil variety wherein the water phase comprises 70 to 90% by wt of the emulsion and the oil phase comprises 5 to 20%. The water phase comprises an aqueous solution of oxidizing salts, and the oil phase comprises the fuel portion. The composition also includes sufficient emulsifying agent to produce a suitable emulsion and one or more sensitizers. Nitropropanes constitute all of a portion of the fuel component. 9 claims.
