Structure and trends in natural gas wellhead contracts

Several bills currently pending in the Congress would revise the Natural Gas Policy Act of 1978 (NGPA). A principal area of concern is how the structure of natural gas producer/purchaser contracts will impact the market under various regulatory and decontrol legislation. This report addresses the issues of natural gas wellhead contracts, how they have evolved in different regulatory environments and what changes may be foreseen under the legislative options currently being debated in Congress.
