Multi-fuel gas burner using preheated forced draft air

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5696515
A unique burner assembly burns low-pressure low-Btu waste gas by using preheated compressed air and, when needed, a high-Btu fuel gas for supplementary or start-up purposes. A cylindrical inner burner tube inserted into the wall of the furnace accepts a stream of preheated air at its upstream end. The closed downstream end contains several slots longitudinally placed around the tube wall. Pressurized rich fuel can be injected along the axis of this inner tube. An outer tube, axially surrounding the inner one, forms an annular space for passage of the lean gas, which mixes with the air and rich gas at the downstream end and passes out through a circumferential slot to burn against the surface of the tile surrounding the burner on the inside of the furnace.
