One of the effective ways to reduce the startup time of drum boilers following shutdowns, is to maintain the heat state of the boiler during the shutdown at a level close to that which existed at the moment of shutdown. This method, referred to as conservation of heat state (CHS), in practice comes down to organizing motion through the tract of the shutdown boiler of steam streams supplied from working boilers, which permits compensation for heat losses to the environment and a limitation in the heat condition of the boiler such that the pressure and temperature of the steam during subsequent startup will be close to the nominal values. Studies revealed that shutdown of a boiler with CHS is an effective way to increase maneuverability of thermal power plants when used for low graph regulation of the energy system.
