Nevada's geothermal resources - the movie

Conference · · AAPG (Am. Assoc. Pet. Geol.) Bull.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5691760
Geothermal development in Nevada has accelerated in the last ten years, evolving from a few novel space-heating applications to construction of commercial electric power plants. This escalation makes Nevada second only to California in geothermal development and is due in part to the resource, available markets, and an attempt to consolidate and rationalize geothermal regulations. Geothermal energy development directly impacts several vital areas including water resources, energy availability, and economic development. This educations video was produced to explain the geologic aspects of this abundant resource, its distribution throughout the state, archaeological and historical aspects, and modern use. The tape is 27 minutes in length and uses animation and on-location footage of hot springs, geysers, geothermal wells, and power plants throughout Nevada. The tape describes, in detail, standard aquacultural and industrial processes, and explores new and innovative applications.
