The first use of subsea wellhead installation and maintenance system (SWIMS) on two wells at the North Alwyn field in the North Sea UK sector is described. SWIMS, a system for wireline well service through a riser, aims to cut workover costs by using an articulated riser from a light dynamically positioned vessel rather than a guidewire system from a full-size drilling rig. The system is guidelineless and wireless, but requires a re-entry socket on the wellhead itself.
