Significant tax legislation was enacted in 1978 which should have a major impact on the geothermal industry. The Energy Tax Act of 1978 has removed any uncertainty as to the tax treatment which flows from a geothermal investment. In addition, new and favorable tax credits were created that apply to certain geothermal investments.
