The use of computerized axial tomography (CAT) image for radiation therapy treatment planning requires the precise definition of the location of each CT image relative to the cranial-caudad axis of the patient. The computed radiograph, a digital radiographic image for CT localization, has proven very useful in defining the location of axial CT images and in correlating the axial images with simulator and port films which have been taken in radiation therapy. A description of our technique and illustrative case examples are presented.
