The paper describes the performance of an isolated self-excited single phase induction generator when the excitation capacitor is connected to one winding and the load is connected to the other. Depending upon equivalent circuit, nonlinear simultaneous equations, in the magnetization reactance and operation frequency, have been used for computer simulation of the two cases. Newton Rhapson numerical method has been found suitable for the solution of the equations. Computer results have been supported by laboratory tests. The model has been used to study the effect of machine parameters on the general performance of the machine.
