On the basis of data obtained for decomposition of the optical absorption and luminescence spectra of a number of crystalline quartzes, the authors propose structural models for the luminescence and absorption centers of crystals containing aluminum, lithium, and sodium ions. In constructing the model for the centers, the authors used EPR data presented for many studied quartzes. Before taking the EPR, optical absorption, and luminescence spectra and the thermo-luminescence curves, the crystals were irradiated with x rays, gamma rays, or fast electrons at 300/sup 0/K and in some cases at 77/sup 0/K.
