Frequency response function estimation at level

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5673929

A technique for determining structural frequency response functions at high excitation energy levels is described. The FRFs are obtained by firing long cylindrical bars into the structure of interest. The strain in the bar, which is easily measured, can be directly related to the force imparted to the structure. The FRFs are then obtained from relationships between the imparted force and the resulting accelerations in the structure. The method is simple to implement and the results obtained are repeatable. 3 refs., 7 figs.
