Longer pipe-type cable pulls and less costly cable installation are possible as a result of an Electric Power Research Institute project (EL-2847) conducted by Power Technologies, Inc., which provided the data and mathematical procedures for calculating cable-pulling tensions. Test results support the recommendation for a lower coefficient of friction, a higher maximum design tension for copper conductors, and a higher maximum sidewall pressure. (DCK)
