Lasing properties of flashlamp-excited two-component dye solutions in various solvents

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Quant. Electron. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
Investigations were made of the energy and spectral characteristics of the stimulated emission from flashlamp-excited mixed solutions of oxazine 17 and rhodamine 6G in the following organic solvents: ethanol, acetone, isopropanol, ethylene glycol, and dimethylformamide. It was found that the energy parameters of this system are improved when both components are involved in stimulated emission. Transfer of electronic excitation energy as a result of flashlamp pumping did not appreciably alter the lasing efficiency of the two-component systems. The spectral and energy properties of these systems were strongly influenced by the triplet states of the dye molecules. Heterogeneous dye association compounds have a specific influence, depending on the solvent used.
