Dibaryon structure in the energy and angular dependence of the tensor polarization t/sub 20/ in. pi. -d elastic scattering

The tensor polarization t/sub 20/ of the recoil deuterons from ..pi../sup +/-d elastic scattering has been measured between T/sub ..pi../ = 110 and 150 MeV. The angular distribution in the backward hemisphere is observed at the lower and higher energies. An excitation curve of t/sub 20/ at theta/sub c/2cm = 150/sup 0/ shows a clear peak near the mass 2.14 GeV with a structure about 10 MeV wide. A phase-shift analysis of all available ..pi../sup +/-d scattering energy and angular dependence is believed to manifest evidence for non-conventional dynamics.
