Dutch exploration/appraisal work brisk; drilling, injection boosts Danish production

A program of horizontal wells and new water injection facilities has boosted production from Denmark's main oil production centers on Dan, Gorm, and Skjold fields. The upturn in Danish crude output has more than offset a small decline in Dutch offshore production, now averaging around 45,000 b/d. Plans by a unit of Unocal to add another field to the Helm/Helder/Hoorn complex should help to stem this decline. In the longer term, proposals from Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij BV (NAM)/Elf Petroland BV for a gas pipeline to the F/3 fields in northern Dutch waters will enable a number of oil and gas prospects to be developed.
