This paper describes a push rod for an internal combustion engine. It comprises: an elongated one piece hollow metal tube having radius bearing surfaces located at the outer tips thereof, the tube having a single, generally concentric inner bore extending throughout the longitudinal length thereof, the bore having an irregularly shaped cross section being defined by alternately connected convex and concave portions, the convex portions being located diametrically opposite of the concave portions, and the tube having a substantially circular outer circumference.
