A liquid-xenon scintillator gamma spectrometer is described which has an energy resolution of 12% for gamma quanta with an energy of 122 keV, obeys the law of 1/..sqrt..E for lower energy, and remains on the same order for higher energy. Data show that the liquid-xwnon scintillation spectrometer has parameters that are close to those of similar detectors with NaI(Tl) single crystals. A further increase in resolution can be attained by improving the light collection by applying an ultraviolet-to-visible spectrum shifter to the reflecting surface.
