The evaluation of accelerometer mount transmissibility for US Navy applications
Permanently attached measurement point hardware is used in US Navy shipboard applications for both machinery monitoring and modal analysis. Various accelerometer mount configurations seen as having a high potential for long term survival, were vibration tested on a shaker table and compared for transmissibility in the frequency range from 0.2 to 10,000 Hz. Candidates tested included, after initial screening, six adhesives and three mechanical connectors. To simulate the harsh environment of a ship's engine room, the adhesives were exposed to 160/sup 0/F water and 120/sup 0/F oil before the testing began. The transmissibility of all mount configurations is compared and ranked with a base case threaded stud mount. 12 figs.
