Pion scattering from sup 39 K and sup 58 Ni

In this paper, the differential cross sections for elastic scattering from {sup 39}K and {sup 58}Ni are calculated utilizing the optical potential. The importance of the virtual excitation of low-lying vibrational states in predicting the differential cross section is discussed.
