In a method for consolidating an incompetent earth formation surrounding a well, a liquid resin-forming material is injected into the well. An inert gas is then injected into the well at a pressure sufficient to force the resin-forming material from the well into the formation. Thereafter, inert gas is passed through the formation to displace the excess of the resin-forming material from the portion of the formation to be consolidated prior to the material undergoing substantial hardening.
