Study of multiphase flow useful to understanding scaleup of coal-liquefaction reactors. Technical progress report, June 1, 1983-August 31, 1983

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5649726
Gas holdup measurements were made for air and aqueous carboxymethyl cellulose solutions using a 13-inch acrylic column. It was concluded that: rheological properties can affect gas holdup in bubble columns, liquid velocity affects gas holdup in the bubble flow pattern, the bubble to bubble-slug transition is dependent on viscosity, and the effect of alcohol on two-phase flow parameters was extreme.
