The design of a Time Projection Chamber (TPC) filled with Xe at high pressure is described. The aim of the project is to measure the neutrinoless ..beta beta.. decay of /sup 136/Xe at the level of 10/sup 23/ years. Guidelines for the choices made in the project and experimental results of prototypes are presented.
