Atomic wavelength reference for a temperature-tunable 1341-nm Nd sup 3+ :YAlO sub 3 laser

A miniature monolithic diode-pumped temperature-tunable Nd{sup 3+}:YAlO{sub 3} laser can be set anywhere within its 1-nm tuning range with a long-term stability of 1 pm by using an optogalvanic signal from the 1341.1686-nm 5{ital s}--3{ital p} transition in helium and the measured temperature tuning rate of the laser.
